Karen Beech MSc BSc (Hons) RVN is the owner of Beech Behaviour Referrals.
Karen started her career as a veterinary nurse, graduating from Middlesex University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science (with Honours) in Veterinary Nursing. Her final year elective was Companion Animal Behaviour, and this sparked her interest in the field.
Upon graduating, Karen knew she wanted to take her interest in behaviour further, and in 2017 she embarked on her Master of Science in Clinical Animal Behaviour at University of Edinburgh's Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.
After a bit of an uphill struggle during the COVID pandemic of 2020, Karen finally submitted her thesis investigating barriers to accessing behavioural care, and graduated in 2022.
Since then, Karen has lectured at both University Centre Reaseheath, Myerscough College, and University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), and continues to work as a travelling veterinary nurse at practices across Manchester who need cover.
Karen is named on the Register of Veterinary Nurses held by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (registration: 6571925), and is a member of the Fellowship of Animal Behaviour Clinicians (candidate member) and the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (provisional member). She is currently working towards her full membership to both associations, and to become a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB).
Karen is the maid to a rescue sphynx named Professor Baldicus Meownstien (Baldy for short), and Bellatrix the rescue pug.
